    Denoising Autoencoder-based Defensive Distillation as an Adversarial Robustness Algorithm

    Adversarial attacks significantly threaten the robustness of deep neural networks (DNNs). Despite the multiple defensive methods employed, they are nevertheless vulnerable to poison attacks, where attackers meddle with the initial training data. In order to defend DNNs against such adversarial attacks, this work proposes a novel method that combines the defensive distillation mechanism with a denoising autoencoder (DAE). This technique tries to lower the sensitivity of the distilled model to poison attacks by spotting and reconstructing poisonous adversarial inputs in the training data. We added carefully created adversarial samples to the initial training data to assess the proposed method's performance. Our experimental findings demonstrate that our method successfully identified and reconstructed the poisonous inputs while also considering enhancing the DNN's resilience. The proposed approach provides a potent and robust defense mechanism for DNNs in various applications where data poisoning attacks are a concern.     090ENH-21The algebraic variety defined by the idempotents of an incidence monoid is investigated. Its irreducible components are determined. The intersection with an antichain submonoid is shown to be the union of these irreducible components. The antichain monoids of bipartite posets are shown to be orthodox semigroups. The Green’s relations are explicitly determined, and applications to conjugacy problems are described. In particular, it is shown that two elements in the antichain monoid are primarily conjugate in the monoid if and only if they belong to the same -class and their multiplication by an idempotent of the same -class gives conjugate elements in the group.epub_ahead_of_prin

    This report describes the design and implementation of a tool to timestamp distributed events, using a standard PC hardware platform. The Event Timestamping Tool (ETT) is a small software kernel that detects externally generated events using two probe sources, and stores the respective timestamps with known precision bounds. A specialized kernel solution minimizes the response time for an event detection and registration and, consequently, maximizes the precision of the tool.     Achieving dependable and real-time operation in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a hard and open problem. This can be an obstacle for many applications, namely in the automotive and medical domains, particularly if safety-critical control is envisaged. To overcome the communication uncertainties that are intrinsic to wireless and dynamic environments, a generic approach is to constantly adapt to environment conditions. This requires appropriate solutions to characterize such conditions. This paper contributes with a lightweight solution for a dependable characterization of network QoS metrics, which is appropriate to support dependable adaptation in WSNs. The proposed solution offers probabilistic guarantees, building on non-parametric stochastic analysis to achieve fast and effective results.     In a recent report we proposed an architectural construct to address the problem of dealing with timeliness specifications in a generic way. We called it the Timely Computing Base, TCB.
